Franklin Park Data Center | Franklin Park, Illinois | 2013, 2015
This project was completed in two phases that include an addition and renovation to Building 33 and later in Phase 2, Building 55, designed as the flagship for DLR’s Midwest operations. Both buildings feature elements of the DLR brand experience, while finding the balance between adapting the existing buildings to a complex building typology and creating a comfortable customer experience.
The first phase, Building 33, includes an addition and renovation to an existing building, with the exterior modernized by newly installed metal panels, exterior entrance canopy and aluminum store front. An 8,000 SF addition to the north of the building adds space for conference and marketing room, offices, and customer lounge. An exterior perforated canopy highlights the building entrance with a blue fritted store front.
The second phase, Building 55, includes a 7,000 SF addition on the east side of the building that matches the addition to B33, it also features an exterior entrance canopy and aluminum store front. B55 encompasses eight 20,000 SF data suites over two floors with 47,000 SF of mechanical and electrical infrastructure. B55 has been modernized with newly-installed full height precast panels that are based on textured patterns explored by the PBB Reference Design Prototype booklet.
This project is seeking a LEED Silver certification.
