SV5 Colocation Data Center | San Jose, California | 2010
In partnership with a local affi liate architect Sheehan Partners provided comprehensive architectural design services for construction of this colocation data center in northern California. The building is designed around prototypical planning modules that consist of a one-story colocation computer room, a two story electrical equipment bar and a modest offi ce component. Generators are located in a screened outdoor yard. The building is designed to complement the existing data center on the site and can be easily expanded.
The building is framed in steel with architectural precast concrete exterior panels bearing on grade. Where wall panels are supported on the steel frame they are fi nished in metal panel to reduce the weight imposed on the structure. Equipment is screened by the use of an innovative perforated, ribbed metal panel. Insulated glazing is provided at offi ces and stairways.
